Volha Baranava is an economics PhD and legal consultant. She specializes in international trade and worked to apply the gravity equation to understand the effects of colonization on international trade (see the paper here). She has also researched the macroeconomic principals that drive growth in developing countries, considering labor force issues, GDP specialization and historical trade patterns. Her entire curriculum vitae is available here.
Volha’s professional interests cut a wide swath, covering everything from civil litigation-oriented economic inquiry to measuring returns from private equity investment. She is fluent in Russian and Ukranian and sometimes goes by the name Olga, which Americans seem to have an easier time pronouncing. She earned her doctorate from Clemson University.

Alexander Haislip specializes in private equity and technology investment analysis. He has won awards from the Institute for Humane Studies, the New York Financial Writers’ Association and the National Press Foundation and prides himself on his ability to communicate complex financial, economic and business principles simply.
